Anything but revision…

May 4th, 2010

Hi,

Arghh, I need to blog more often! What is wrong with me! (As Chandler would say, ‘Ooh, don’t open that door’, quote from Friends S07E21 – TOW the Vows). Yes, I watch too much Friends, even more when I’m supposed to be revising.

So, yup, I’m supposed to be revising. But I’m not. I’ve resorted to doing anything to avoid revision. Watch Friends. Watch Movies. Watch more American TV. Do business accounting. Research VAT registration. Fill out business tax forms even though they aren’t due in months. Although admittedly, filling in the tax forms helped my revision. They were so hard to get my head around, revision was the easier option!

So anyway, not really done much. Damn, these blog entries are starting to get really dry aren’t they?! After exams and when uni has finished in June, I’m promising myself that exciting things will be done. I can blog about that.

Themes. I made some really nice new themes for this blog. Spent a LONG time doing them. But I can’t bring myself to remove the current look! I love the simplicity of it! Hmm. Decisions decisions. I lead such a stressful life.
Humaira changed her blog theme. An improvement to the black-ness that she had before. I like the books!
Emad also changed his blog theme. Although I like that it’s a change from the theme he’s had for the last million years or so, I hate that the header of the page takes up more than half of the screen! Need to see more content, less decoration!
Think I’ll change mine after the exams. If I ever get around to designing/editing one which is good enough for me to part with the current one!

I’m taking tonight to go through my bookmark folder of blogs and read/comment on them. I don’t do this enough. Used to read other blogs daily, now it’s more of a monthly job! Ah well, the Apple iPad should help with that! Yup, had to mention it. You know what, it deserves its own paragraph.

Apple iPad. There.

It is really cool though. Can’t wait til the UK release. May 10th pre-order with availability near the end of May. It’s taken a LOT of self-control to not import one in from America. Not helped when your brother is telling you to ‘do it, import it!’ every few hours day. I’m sure the iPad will make me blog more as well. Hah, look at me justifying the need to buy an iPad. Don’t know why I’m bothering to justify, I’m gonna buy it. It’s just fact. I’m a sucker for anything cool/gadget-y/Apple/shiny/sexy.

Elections! The election debates over the last 3 weeks have been fun to watch. Absolutely hate Nick Clegg. I mean if you’re gonna do the whole staying quiet whilst Cameron and Brown are bickering over stuff so it seems like you’re the only rational/sane/non-bickering candidate then at least have the decency to not comment on that every 5 minutes during the debates. Knobhead. A brilliant little part of the debate below:

David Cameron: Yes, the Conservative Party has been too reliant for too long on rich individuals, and yes, the Liberal Democrats took £2.5 million off someone who’s still, I think, a criminal on the run and the money hasn’t been paid back. Let’s not get too holier than thou over all this.

Nick Clegg: Hang on a minute. Before we bandy about these things, let’s be absolutely clear. We were completely exonerated for that, it was years ago. I’m talking about what’s been going on now.

David Cameron: Have you paid the money back?

Nick Clegg: Listen, none of this will make any difference if we allow…

Hah, as much as I also hate David Cameron, It was just funny. I loved the smug-ness of Cameron’s reply, ‘Have you paid the money back?’. Just to equal things up, great picture of David Cameron:

Brilliant!

Oh and before I go, had this hilarious moment at home with my mum and brother. We were sat watching T.V and eating when my brother said something obscure about guns, I was confused, then my mum answered the gun question with a bit too much detail! I just turned around and looked with surprise at her hidden gun knowledge! When quizzed about it, Mum said, ‘Yes, I know because I’m head of MFI-no!-sorry!-I meant MI5!’ Me and my brother cracked up. Hilarious. I was like, yes mum, we’re re-doing bit’s of the house but I think your obsessing over teh house a bit too much when you start spouting out names of furniture retailers which are now in administration!

One last thing before I go, just to clarify, my family and me are good, innocent law abiding non-gun-wielding citizens of the UK. Just thought I’d erase any doubt you might have had about us. :P

Until next time,
Adios :)

Dammit I haven’t blogged in ages! I blame Newcastle…

March 26th, 2010

Hii,

Bloody hell, it’s been ages since my last blog. Months! I blame Newcastle. Simply because I can’t find anything/anyone else to blame…

Hmm, I’m trying to think over the past few months and what I’ve done… Nothing really sticks out…

Random news: A Tesco is opening up has opened up just down the road from where I live in Newcastle! Wooo! It’s a little Tesco Metro Express but still, it’s a start. I think I’m gonna find myself just hanging out in there a lot… Lol, you have to love Tesco! Hah, you can tell by the crossing out that this was part of a draft of this post which I wrote about a while ago… Also, a Tesco Metro has also opened which is bigger! In the new part of Eldon Square where there is also an APPLE STORE! More on that later…

I know how to take blood pressure now! Although I don’t see why we need to learn that when you can just strap an electric BP monitor on… Again, I say I know how to but I think I’ve kind of already forgot, but I could probably muddle through and get an approximate reading… hehe

So the Apple store… Well, being the sad person I am, I waited in line to be one of the first people to get in to the Apple Store and got two free Apple T-shirts! Actually wearing it right now whilst typing this… Good stuff, love that I now have an Apple store close by. Should be good to go see the iPad when it comes out. Still deciding whether to purchase that or not… Currently about 95% swayed towards buying it and blaming uni for it. I had to buy it for uni… That’s my excuse.

Had a killer assignment due in last week. Should’ve spent a lot longer doing it but ended up spending all night in the computer cluster in the med school trying to finish it. 8:30pm to 6:30am was not good. Did not like that I was going up to my room when the birds were chirping and the sun was coming up…

Currently the Easter Holidays (4 weeks!). One week has already gone by and I’ve still not started revision. This time I blame Bry and Emad. Just because it’s usually their fault.

Oh and check out the new pushme.to thingy at the side of the blog. It’s really cool. You can send me messages which get pushed straight to my iPhone! They pop up and make a sound and everything! hehe and it’s FREE! :)

I’ll blog more soon, and this time it won’t take me this long…

Before I go, Happy Birthday Parisa!

Another before I go, Check out this brilliant picture:

Newcastle University! Medicine! CRB! Apple!

November 13th, 2009

Whoa, 2009 has not been a good year for the blogging. In my defense, I’ve been busy. Ok, I’ve been semi-busy. Hah, completely not believable, yup I’ve been not busy.

Anyway…

Hii!

I’ve started Newcastle University! As you can tell by the title. I’m studying Medicine! As you can also tell by the title. Such exciting stuff! Although I think I might have covered some of this stuff in my last post… Oh well, never mind. Still can’t believe that I’m actually at University now.

Soo, what’s been happening you ask? Well, I’ve had a CRB check done. It came back clear. Yes, I’m just as shocked as you.

Was about to leave the University stuff but just remembered, I took blood from someone! Ok, wait, let me re-phrase that cos that just sounds like I stabbed someone in the street to take blood. We had a practical where we were practising venepuncture. T’was good fun, hands were shaking uncontrollably but when I picked up the needle, I was unbelievably still! Pierced the skin and successfully took blood from someone. See, it was all legal and above board, none of this stabbing business.

Right, I’m off to go watch a film. Or a movie. What’s the difference? I’m stuck. Film or movie? I’m gonna go with movie. I’m off to go watch a movie.

I’m sure I wanted to say something else but I can’t remember…

Oh wait, one more thing, I’m 19! Woo, not really that exciting… Not liking that I’m almost finished being a teenager. Less than a year left. Hmm, I feel as if I should do something this year…

Anyway, that’s me done. I’ll be back tomorrow with more stuff I remember. And I WILL be back tomorrow.

:)

It’s all over! Results day and other things!

August 25th, 2009

Hey,

Not blogged in ages. Since I last blogged a lot has happened. I’ll break it down for you.

I went to Newcastle and stayed for 2 weeks at the University. Throughout that time I was subjected to waaaay too many lectures about Liver Disease. Anyway, Had to do an exam and then a 2500 word essay on a new drug called Sorafenib for Liver Disease and whether it’s cost-effective on the NHS. And then had to do a 500 word reflection piece. All worked out good in the end. I PASSED IT! Got an email saying that ‘Congratulations! you have demonstrated potential to succeed at Newcastle University’. Yea, you’re damn right I have after the amount I work you made me do! :)

So anyway, on the same day it was Amina’s Birthday. Went to Mumtaz, Clarence Dock, Leeds. T’was a good night. There was no pianist so I sat down behind the piano and did the Rugrat’s theme tune! Got a bit embarassed when the manager started walking towards me so naturally, I ran. Anyway, was about to go home when my cousin decided to call us in for ‘10 minutes’ at midnight. This turned out to be 5 hours. Lol, me and my brother ended up going home at about 5 in the morning. We all just literally sat there and talked about things which I can’t even remember now and about how we wanted tea but couldn’t be bothered getting up to make it… Ickle cousin Muhammad Azeem stayed up with us until about 3 in the morning! He’s only 18 months old! He’s such a little cutey! I absolutely love him, I could actually just eat him up. His little smile and the way he laughs! Oh and the way he just stood against the sofa. He was like a little old man. Me and my brother said he just needed a pipe and slippers. Aaah, so cute.

Then it was back to spending the rest of the week crapping myself over A-Level results…

Thursday came. I woke up at about 7 in the morning, checked UCAS and … I GOT IN! Still can’t believe it! But it gets better. Went in to school at about 10 to collect my results, opened them and FUCK ME I couldn’t believe how well I’d done! I got straight A’s! Still can’t believe it! I got all 3 A’s! And I also managed to get an A in my Extended Project Qualification and passed my AQA Baccalaureate! Bloody hell, I was having a good day!

So yea, now I’ve got in at Newcastle University to study Medicine! Still can’t believe that I’m actually going to Medical School! I’m gonna be a Doctor! Bryony is calling me Dr iSaf. Ok fine, I made that up, she said Dr Saf, I just added the i onto Saf. Lol, iSaf.

It was good to see everyone again on Results Day. Bryony, Emad, Humaira, Zainab, Jenny, Andy, Sal. It was great. I had a great 7 years with you all (2 years with some)!

Us lot in the corner!

Us lot in the corner!

I wish you guys all the best in the future. And don’t ever forget me! We have to stay in touch! I’m re-opening the forum for us lot but more just as an ever lasting memory to Sebastien, Cockroft and the you-know-what toys from Hong Kong.

Before I end -

@ Zainab – You probably won’t be reading this but we have to go to Morrisons and try out their new desserts. They have a new range in and I took pics of it!

@ Humaira – Keep killing people with the knives that you’ve secretly been carrying about in your bag since you were 8. Sorry, was I not supposed to tell people? :)

@ Emad – You’re just a weird fellow Apple Dude.

@ Bryony – Yes, you know too much about ‘these’ things. But seriously, I’m gonna miss our times together. Remember the dragging you out from the common room into the pouring rain outside? Good times.

@Jenny – Fellow short person. What are we gonna do at Uni around these tall people!

That’s me done.

Goodnight :)

Michael Jackson Dies, Fish gets battered…

June 26th, 2009

Hey,

Michael Jackson has died. It actually is quite unbelievable. One of the greatest entertainers to ever walk this earth has gone. Despite all that was said about him, it’s still sad that he’s died. May he rest in peace.

But seriously, the T.V channels are getting on my nerves now. If I here Uri Geller’s voice again on any T.V channel, I will kill myself. We all know he’s died now, let’s sort of move on instead of going on about it on every single T.V programme. Even bloody Eastenders re-recorded a little section to mention it! I mean come on!

Spent all day today watching Tennis. Good fun. Federer lost a set! It was weird but still, at least he won. GO FEDERER! Realy enjoying Wimbledon this year, nice to actually be able to watch it given that I’m at home doing absolutely nothing.

Djokovic beat Mardy Fish. Straight sets. Not really much more to say. He’s really on top form this year. Really wanted Djokovic and Federer in the final but it looks like that ain’t happening seeing as they’re on the same side draw. Oh well. Oh and that was what the title was about. Djokovic battered Fish. D’ya get it? Fish? Battered? Play on words? I’m good, huh?

Haas and Cilic was a great match. I do feel sorry for Haas given that he was 2 sets up but then sort of just lost it all. Poor lad. Cilic clawed his way back and then almost won the match but Haas got going again. Then it all got stopped due to bad lighting so that should be good tomorrow. Lol, I just read what I wrote and it just sounds stupid, ‘Got going again’? Who says that? Other then me of course…

Saw Mr Jones (History teacher) driving up and down my street four times. I think he was lost… lol. It was hilarious. I was walking down the street and he just sort of went up the street, then down again, then up and down. You get the picture. Actually, I wish I did. I was gonna take a picture but damn you O2 for texting me some settings at the wrong time. Nearly dropped the iPhone when it vibrated. Emphasis on almost. If I did then, this blog post would probably have been coming from the grave.

Oh and before I go, I’m liking Twitter. I like tweeting directly from iPhone. And I managed to integrate it into my blog with a bit of clever PHP coding (done by someone else…) but put in by me! Now my lastest tweet comes up as my status up on the top right! Good stuff.

That’s all from me today.

Exams are over!

June 19th, 2009

Hi,

It’s been a very very long time. I can’t believe that I’ve finished my exams and finished at HGS! It’s very weird that I’ve finished school. I’m gonna miss HGS. Took loads of pictures on the last day which I still need to upload… I’ll do that over the week-end.

Exams went… shit. The first exams went fine and I’m sure I did good on them but the last 2 for all the subjects were depressing. I don’t wanna think about them anymore. *erases from memory*

I’ve got nothing more to blog about now…I’ll be back tomorrow with some interesting stuff.

Byee :)

JLS TO WIN!!!

December 11th, 2008

Heyy,

First up, Some pics:

Sal being molested by Andy. Aww...

Sal being molested by Andy. Aww...

Sal being molested by Andy. Aww...

T’was fun at Lunch. Took the pics for fun. Wasn’t actually gonna blog em cos I usually can’t be bothered transferring the pics but Sal told me not to blog the pics so naturally, I blog the pics. Oh and I’ve facebooked em too :P LOL. Hah. Fucker don’t tell me what I can and can’t do. Rest assured I’ll do the complete opposite. :)

So, Eid. Too many people were ill. Brother, Mum, Dad, Aunty along with a whole heap of other people.

I really don’t know what else to blog about.

Was in the library today and was lying down on the floor trying to do Chemistry revision (as you do) with Emad making sly sexual comments every 2 minutes (as you don’t). I said something about my boxers showing and I was pulling my t-shirt down a bit when Emad randomly blurted out stuff about the boxers he was wearing. I just cracked up. I was like, ‘IT WASN’T A SHARING MOMENT’! How can someone possibly slip into conversation that they are wearing chequered boxers? Completely beyond me, as if I wanted to know!. Almost had tears coming out of my eyes. Hilarious.

Biology was good because the evil Dr wasn’t in. T’was embarassing when I walked into the class and the technician women said your teacher isn’t here and I just started screaming ‘YES!!!’ and jumped up and down like a lunatic. But then two dopey students (Hannah and Shezhad) went up to another class whose teacher said she’s combine our too classes! I refused to go up to lesson so three people came down and tried to lift me up to Biology from the common room! I grabbed hold of Zainab and then the table and refused to go! Hannah eventually convinced me to go so we went up and made noise and annoyed the teacher until she ended up kicking us out. HAH. Serves her right.

People are trying to ruin our outing to Pizza Hut…

It was Farhan’s Birthday last week! T’was fun. Expect some pictures soon. Although knowing me, this could take a while!

And finally, did you watch X Factor last week? It was great. JLS did a great rendition of Umbrella.

JLS TO WIN!!!

Anyway, thats me done. You can have a listen to one of my favourite tracks at the moment.

It’s been a long time!

November 27th, 2008

Hey,

It’s been aaages since I last blogged. For the first time ever I have actually been busy and doing work. I know! We’ll have a little catchup:

Happy 18th Birthday! I’m 18 years old now! I’m sorta running out of things to say about me being 18! Errrm, I’ll try another variation. Saf’s 18 years old! Ok, even by my standards that was rubbish…

I’m suddenly thinking of Huddersfield Pizza Hut and the discount cards we all took out. No Rafa, you can’t get a discount at Pizza Hut with a Matalan card.

House Debates – I went to them! Ok, I went to one.  But it was funny. Apparently I made an inappropriate comment towards a member of staff. T’was funny though, me and Zainab couldn’t decide who would get up and say it so I ended up shouting it out. Ben refused to answer my question.

Too much Cookie Dough and Nacho’s are being eaten in our free’s. Me and Zainab are just junkie’s. Desert Friday is going great. We’ve had a lot of deserts, even if it took us about 30 mins to decide every week… We still haven’t tried the disgusting looking Silicon Tit…

Me and Rafa keep having water fights. I threw a little bit of water on her so she threw a cup of water on me and drenched me while everyone in the common room just had a good laugh. I was literally dripping water. I got her back and since then we just sorta throw water on each other every now and again…

Apparently a teacher seems to love me… We’re currently devising tests to confirm this…

I’ve done my EPQ! The damn thing is complete. Did the presentation today! All done. Finished. 5000 words. Not slept properly for the last week. But I’m done!

Apple are still brilliant contrary to what Emad might say.

Humaira seems to be having dependency issues. I mean, just because I’m no longer with her in Biology she’s been having a ’shaky start’. You’ll get over it. It’ll be hard, I mean it is me after all, but it’ll happen eventually. :P

Marry, Kiss or throw got turned into Marry, Fuck or throw. I always find a way to dirtify things…

I might have told my Chemistry teacher (the nice one, not the Devil/Beaver) Zainab’s pornstar name – Zainab Lixalot – after which he thought I was disgusting and that I had crossed the student-teacher boundary. Good stuff.

The Devil/beaver Chemistry teacher will be killed. My god he’s gonna be the death of me. I actually almost cried in the lesson. It was so painful, that by the end (when he held us hostage and wouldn’t let us go) I was contemplating drawing blood and giving it to him, JUST LET US GO FUCKER…

I’ve decided that I’m much less tolerant of people this year…

And as a side note, before I go, Zara and Asfa seem to be having some sort of sordid secret affair… :P They said they were in bed, and I just wrongly assumed together… Hehe.

Saf :)

Cranedale and the cool hat…

September 14th, 2008

Hi,

I feel like I shud’ve blogged ages ago but I’m just lazy…

So anyway, went to The Cranedale Centre (right spelling of centre/er?) for a 3 day residential trip. T’was wet, cold, muddy and generally miserable weather but still loads of fun.

Monday
Got there at some stupid time in the morning. I was sleepy and hungry as usual. Got shown to our rooms and went straight to doing some freshwater ecosystem work. Don’t ask. I refused to partake in the dirty insect-y stuff and just watched from afar as everyone else did the work. Basically did more work for the rest of the day. Went to the bar to get some Coke (took us about 30 minutes to pluck up the courage to do this…). Supposed to go to sleep at 11 (I know! Waaaaay too early!) but thankfully I had the EEE laptop with me and got a weak wifi internet signal in bed so streamed the Federer v Murray match (thanks to brother sending me the link!)

Tuesday
Went on a walk which seemed like forever! A million miles or something. Was wet and cold. But it was hilarious simply because everyone fell over at some point or got stuck in the mud. Great stuff. Managed to get pictures of too many people stuck. I’m not a nice person. A woman came in with an owl! T’was very cool! Again, we were supposed to go to sleep at 11. Instead I was creeping across the courtyard to Hannah’s room at 11:30. Talking to Hannah and Co and then Biology teacher/my form tutor came in! Hannah pushed me into the wardrobe and I hid there for like 10 minutes whilst she told the girls what the arrangements were for the Wednesday! Hilarious. Then we were creeping around the courtyards to go round up some more guys. Faheem was dressed up as a girl. The other Fahim and Zara were singing. Both are REALLY good. Went to sleep at about 3 in morning.

Wednesday
Woke up after hardly any sleep. Went to Bridlington beach thingy and sorta messed around learnt cool biology stuff… :)
Got into coach to come home ( we got double seats!) whilst Humaira spazzily waved and said ‘Hello’ to people on the motorway…

Got some clips of Rafa singing and falling over which I’ll upload tomorrow along with some pics.

T’is been a very abridged version of the Cranedale trip but I’m tired and sleepy so I don’t care. :P Lol.

Au Revoir :)

Rant #1 – The Gadget Show

August 25th, 2008

Hi,

I’m just gonna go straight into my rant…

I was watching an episode of ‘The Gadget Show’ dated 14th July 2008 just a couple of days ago. Reason for watching was because my cousin Asifa (Hi Asifa! and Zain and the Baby and JB!) got me intrigued on the ‘ZPen’ from Dane-elec (which looks really cool and I want it!). So anyway, I was watching it and turns out they were also reviewing the Apple TV made by… you guessed it, Apple.

I’ll cut to the chase, Jason (the reviewer) said that Apple needs to ‘reduce that 4 hour wait’ because it’s ‘just a little bit too long’ when you’re renting/downloading a HD movie. Can you believe it?!?! Blaming Apple! Of course it’s gonna take 4 fucking hours to download a HD movie from Apple when your using shit broadband in the UK! It’s not Apple’s fault but more the fault of the ISP’s. Apple are innovating and churning out beautiful sexy technology to revolutionise the way we do things but the ISP’s are still stuck in the old age, with slow internet or a ridiculously expensive price for moderately fast internet!
Therefore it is not Apple’s fault. If you want a faster download time, get faster internet or download SD content. You can’t download HD movies and expect Apple to have compressed them down to about the size of a SD movie because otherwise it’s no longer HD you fucking pillock. It’s gonna be SD. So blame the ISP’s and not Apple!

/Rant over

In all fairness though, Jason did say that Apple had an exciting product and he is a bit of a mac fan so I’ll left him off. Just this once mind. I won’t be so easily calmed down next time…

Also, Happy Birthday Mum! She’s like a million years old today :p Hehe. I made her a cake! It had strawberry’s in it with loads of chocolate (both milk and white)! I was so proud of it. Tasted and looked very nice if I may say so myself.
Aunty said that I was a right little girl! I’ll take that as a complement… somehow… I guess she meant to say that girls are usually associated with such perfection and beautiful cookery. What can I say? I’m great. Better than a girl. Absolutely brilliant. I’m just a great all-rounder. :)
Me and bro got Mum a Bose iPod speaker thingy. T’is very loud…

Tune in to tomorrow for another rant tomorrow. I believe it’s gonna be to do with Chocolate and the way it’s promoted… lol. :)

Good Night-i-o :)
